DIE SPITZ STARE DOWN DECAY WITH NEW SINGLE ‘THROW YOURSELF TO THE SWORD’
As postmodern society unravels, Austin four-piece Die Spitz confront the chaos head-on with their debut album Something to Consume, out Sept. 12 via Third Man Records. “There’s a political side to it, but addiction and love can also be all-consuming,” says bassist and vocalist Ellie Livingston.
Trading instruments, vocals, and songwriting duties, the band blends classic punk, hardcore, metal, and alt rock to forge their own cathartic sound. Known for raucous live sets—cartwheels, rafter climbs, and crowdsurf solos included—Die Spitz channel their restless energy into a record that explores how consumption shapes both culture and self.
“It’s an album experience for everyone. Whether you’re craving a smack of lively metal or a wave of melancholy violin, there’s a piece of all of us in it.”
That sonic shapeshifting is front and center on lead single “Throw Yourself to the Sword,” out now. “It’s a high-energy ode to what we want young people to feel. Even in a state of despair, you can still rise up and fight—if you’re willing to throw yourself to the unknown.”
Die Spitz is Ava Schrobilgen, Chloe De St. Aubin, Ellie Livingston, and Kate Halter.
