Known for her introspective lyrics on self-worth, identity, and relationships—often shaped by her experience navigating disability and chronic illness—Sakara delivers a coming-of-age anthem that resonates with refreshing clarity. Her delicate yet powerful style has drawn comparisons to Suzanne Vega and Conan Gray, while her accolades include winning Cambridge Band Competition’s Best Acoustic Act and performing at Camp Bestival Dorset 2024.
Recorded in Cambridge with producer Francis Botcherby, This Is Reality weaves folk, rock, and pop influences, evoking the sounds of Taylor Swift, Jade Bird, and Olive Klug. Its dreamlike details and rich, textured guitars bring to life the bittersweet moment of realizing adulthood means shaping your own path.
“This song belongs to that moment when we realize it’s time to separate expectations from what we truly want,” Sakara shares. “It starts with ‘What do you expect me to say?’ and ends with a knowing smile: ‘That was just a dream.’”
With more singles and an EP on the horizon, 2025 is shaping up to be the year Sakara turns dreams into reality.
