SCARLET RAE ANNOUNCES NEW EP ‘NO HEAVY GOODBYES’

Los Angeles-born, New York-based artist Scarlet Rae has announced her upcoming EP No Heavy Goodbyes, due out September 19 via Bayonet Records — her first release with the label. Rae’s signature blend of ethereal vocals and jagged distortion threads through the EP, which channels themes of loss, solitude, and emotional reckoning. The project marks a deeply personal chapter for Rae, shaped by grief and transformation.

Alongside the EP announcement, Scarlet Rae has released her next single “The Reason I Could Sleep Forever,” which articulates the temptation to disappear without glamorizing despair.

“It’s about being emotionally and physically depleted, questioning everything. You’re not okay, but you’re not giving up either. The first verse walks through a kind of spiritual confusion — lighting candles, seeking answers, then flipping into an atheist mindset. It’s about that limbo.”

Rae’s sound merges whispery, effects-laced vocals with acoustic textures and shoegaze haze — a style she’s been refining since debuting solo in 2020. But her roots run deeper. Raised in a musical family, she picked up the guitar early and fronted beloved L.A. indie folk trio Rose Dorn in high school. Their 2019 debut Days You Were Leaving (Bar None Records) established Rae as a compelling voice in the DIY scene.

With No Heavy Goodbyes, Scarlet Rae opens a raw, luminous window into survival — and the fragile beauty of choosing to stay.
