ANNAHSTASIA ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM TETHER, DROPS NEW SINGLE “VILLAIN”

Annahstasia has announced her debut album, Tether, set for release on June 13 via drink sum wtr. Alongside the news, she unveils a powerful new single, “Villain”, a surging blend of drums, brass, and horns that nods to healing. “We are all made of both shadow and light. From some angle, we have all been the villain of the story,” she reflects.

The single arrives with a striking music video, directed by Adam Davis, spotlighting the Black rodeo community in Tulsa and Oklahoma. Annahstasia envisioned the visual as a lesson in learning—an embrace of growth, mistakes included.

Tether took shape gradually, each song evolving before being committed to the album. “The song is written, and then I have to live with it and see if I really believe what I’m saying,” she explains. Recorded live at LA’s Valentine Studios, the album features producers Jason Lader (Frank Ocean, Lana Del Rey), Andrew Lappin (L’Rain), and Aaron Liao (Moses Sumney), along with guests like Obongjayar and Grammy-nominated poet Aja Monet.

Expanding on themes from her 2023 EP Surface Tension, Tether explores love’s aftermath with raw, intimate vocals. Annahstasia, born Annahstasia Enuke, first navigated the entertainment industry at 17, learning early the value of creative resilience. “I’ve come into the power of my voice as a tool of expression,” she says. “I am able to shape the emotional space around me.”
