KAYLA GRACE RELEASES NEW EP ‘CATS CAN SURF’
Rising UK artist Kayla Grace continues to carve her space in the indie-pop scene with the release of her new 7-track EP, Cats Can Surf, out now via Manifest Music. Following her introspective single “a leith ross song,” the 22-year-old songwriter and guitarist once again turns raw emotion into music, unafraid to embrace past wounds and transform them into something meaningful.
Produced by longtime collaborator Barns Noble, Cats Can Surf marks a new chapter for Grace, blending sharp wit, vulnerability, and self-discovery. The title track, a sun-soaked yet bittersweet anthem, offers a playful take on unrequited love, masking its melancholic core with bright, infectious energy. Inspired by the phrase “pigs can fly,” Grace—self-proclaimed “crazy cat lady”—put her own whimsical spin on the idea.
The EP navigates heartbreak, self-worth, and newfound boldness with an unfiltered honesty that has become Grace’s signature. “Cats Can Surf follows my transition from teenage years to adulthood,” she shares. “After Glass Child, which explored my childhood trauma, I wanted to highlight the healing I’ve done—plus, I threw in a couple of breakup songs for old times’ sake.”
Starting as intimate bedroom recordings, the songs evolved in the studio into a fusion of pop, indie, folk, and Midwest emo. With this release, Kayla Grace continues to prove that sincerity is her greatest strength—laying it all bare, no apologies, just her story in full.
