GINGER WINN CONFRONTS GRIEF ON NEW ALBUM “FREEZE FRAME”

Kingston, NY–based folk singer-songwriter Ginger Winn, by way of Charleston, South Carolina, faces loss head-on in her sophomore album Freeze Frame, out now. The 14-track record delves into the emotional stages of grief, weaving through personal reflection and quiet resilience.

“This is the most emotional project I’ve ever made. It holds my new grief, my longing, and all the tiny moments that pulled me through.” The album was shaped by the sudden passing of her father, just two months before final production—a loss that deeply informs the work’s introspective tone.

New single “Socrates,” released today, captures the album’s thematic core. With airy vocals and a steady guitar pulse, the track meditates on legacy, memory, and enduring love across generations. “It’s about the unknown legacy we all leave behind. I was thinking about growing up, leaving home, moving to South Africa, and missing my mom. It became a song about how we’re shaped by the people who raised us—and how we shape others.”

Winn began songwriting at age nine and started producing for others in 2022. Her debut album STOP-MOTION arrived in 2024. Now, with Freeze Frame, she uncovers deeper emotional terrain, emerging with a work as healing as it is haunting.
