LOLA MOXOM SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘TURN DOWN THE LIGHTS’
At just 19, singer, songwriter, and producer Lola Moxom releases her highly anticipated second single, “Turn Down The Lights,” a sophisticated showcase of modern R&B. Anchored by a steady beat, warped bass, and crisp high-hats, the track highlights Lola’s remarkable vocal talent, seamlessly flowing through flawless riffs and runs. Blending classic R&B influences with contemporary innovation, Lola’s sound pays homage to the genre’s roots while charting a fresh path forward.
On the track, Lola says: “I wanted to create a song that had the vibe/essence of Musiq Soulchild, the soul of a Jill Scott track, but with the powerhouse vocals of Beyoncé, Kim Burrell, and Whitney Houston, etc. Ramzi Sleiman who’s a legend on the keys, he really helped bring that vision to life. We used to jam to Stevie Wonder together a lot. and when we started writing, it was like the song just wrote itself and the whole writing process just flowed because we were all vibing off the same influences.”
Produced by James Berkeley and co-written with TRAITS, “Turn Down The Lights” builds on intricate backing vocals, adding depth to the song’s texture. Lola, who has been arranging vocals since she was 11, collaborated with vocal coach Joshua Alamu (FLO, Raye, Tems, Griff) to shape the song’s rich harmonies. Known for her distinctive sound and mature approach, Lola continues to establish herself as a compelling new voice in R&B.
