TOTAL TOMMY DROPS DEBUT ALBUM ‘BRUISES’

Sydney-based artist Total Tommy, the musical moniker of Jess Holt, has officially released her much-anticipated debut album, Bruises, via [PIAS] Recordings. Featuring her acclaimed singles—including Microdose, mixed by Dan Carey—the album introduces listeners to a raw, unfiltered take on personal transformation and emotional reckoning.

Written over a transformative two-year period, Bruises chronicles a time of upheaval for Holt: navigating a breakup, moving cities, coming out as queer, and meeting her now-wife. The collection of scuzzy, bedroom-rock anthems captures the growth, pain, and resilience that define such life-altering moments. Produced in collaboration with Mark Zito (of Fractures), the album was crafted with the live music experience in mind, embodying the energy and abandon of Total Tommy’s performances.

“There are a lot of different sides of me on this record,” Holt explains. “A romantic, a hedonist, a lost soul, a wise friend, an asshole, a sweetheart. But what ties it all together is confidence—a belief in exactly who I am that only comes after everything’s been uprooted.”

From soaring moments of liberation to introspective meditations on the bruises we leave and collect, Bruises offers a poignant yet powerful exploration of the human experience. The album’s tracks serve as a reflection of Holt’s personal evolution, showcasing her bold, witty lyricism and an electrifying sense of aliveness.

“These songs were never meant for navel-gazing,” Holt adds. “They were meant to be played loud, to a crowd, with abandon.”

With Bruises, Total Tommy cements her place as a compelling new voice in indie rock—unafraid to embrace vulnerability, chaos, and joy in equal measure.
