ZZZAHARA ANOUNCES NEW ALBUM ‘SPIRAL YOUR WAY OUT’ / RELEASES LEAD SINGLE ‘GHOSTS’
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter zzzahara has announced their upcoming album, Spiral Your Way Out, set for release on January 10, 2025, via Lex Records. Alongside the announcement, they’ve unveiled the lead single and video, “Ghosts.” This new album follows their 2023 release, Tender, and marks a significant evolution in their sound. Spiral Your Way Out reflects emotional turmoil, with zzzahara navigating the wreckage of a relationship defined by indecision and the struggle to conform to someone else’s expectations—leading to what they describe as “emotional rock bottom.”
Created in a three-month burst of intense emotion, Spiral Your Way Out channels pent-up frustration and serves as an act of self-reclamation. Unlike the meditative tone of Tender, the new album is fiery and assertive. “I was going through such a tough time and felt like I didn’t have anyone to reach out to,” zzzahara said, describing the chaotic period spent mostly on tour or in isolation leading up to the album. “When I finally sat down in the studio, I just had all this anger—not only toward that person, but toward myself for not walking away sooner. I was mad at myself for letting things drag on and for isolating for so long. I poured all that anger into the record.”
The lead single, “Ghosts,” is a raw, relatable track that explores the conflicting emotions of staying in a toxic relationship. With stripped-back production, it channels influences from bands like The Scene Aesthetic and Dashboard Confessional, allowing zzzahara’s vocals to shine as they convey the vulnerability and pain at the heart of the song.
